Daejeon hosts Startup Korea Investment Week to boost global venture matching
The 4th Startup Korea Investment Week (SIW) has commenced in the Gung-dong area of Yuseong-gu, Daejeon. Organized by Daejeon Metropolitan City and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, the event aims to revitalize the startup and investment ecosystem by utilizing local cafes and startup support spaces rather than traditional large exhibition halls.
The event is structured to match startups with investors based on their specific growth stages. The schedule includes seed-stage programs on the first day, seed to Pre-A stage programs on the second, and Pre-A or higher stage programs focused on global expansion on the third day. Key activities include 1:1 investment consultations, demo days, IR sessions, and forums covering topics such as physical AI, climate tech, and aerospace.
Daejeon has set a vision to enter the top 100 global startup cities by 2030. This year's event features participation from 10 international investment and startup support agencies from countries including Mongolia, China, Hong Kong, France, and Germany to facilitate global market entry and local proof-of-concept opportunities.
