Daejeon Jung-gu hosts outdoor library for 3rd Book Festival

The Jung-gu district of Daejeon successfully concluded its outdoor library event, part of the 3rd Daejeon Jung-gu Book Festival, held on October 12 and 13 in the Seonridan-gil area. Under the theme ‘Staying in Books, Staying in Jung-gu,’ the event connected local alleys, bookstores, cafes, and cultural spaces to create a reading culture festival involving music and community interaction.

Program highlights included themed book curation, book-sking sessions, book alley tours, and an ‘AI Book Prescription’ service that recommended books based on visitor interests. Other activities featured puppet shows, exhibitions, and a used book market. The festival also hosted discussions with authors, travelers, and musicians regarding the history and people of Daejeon.

District Head Kim Je-seon stated that the event demonstrated the potential for books to move beyond traditional libraries and into daily life and local alleys. The main festival is scheduled to take place from October 10 to 11 near Woorideul Park.
