Daejeon launches pilot parking zones for shared mobility

Daejeon Metropolitan City has launched a pilot program for designated parking zones for shared electric scooters and bicycles. In collaboration with private operators such as GCOO, the city is implementing these zones across five specific areas to improve pedestrian safety and establish orderly parking habits.

The pilot locations include the routes between Woosong University and Daedong Station, City Hall Station, Galleria Time World, Chungnam National University, and Yuseong Spa Station. A total of 217 parking spots are being utilized, consisting of 99 dedicated personal mobility (PM) parking spaces, 48 Tashu rental stations, and 70 district-managed bicycle racks.

To encourage compliance, private rental companies will impose penalties or fees on users who fail to park in the designated areas. The city plans to expand dedicated PM parking facilities with signage and parking lines through next year, aiming to position these devices as viable short-distance alternatives during future construction for the City Rail Line 2 tram.
