Daejeon Mayor Heo Tae-jung visits Jung-gu to address local issues
Daejeon Mayor Heo Tae-jung conducted a ‘Win-Win Empathy Tour’ in the Jung-gu district to discuss regional development and address long-standing local concerns. During the visit, the Mayor inspected the construction site of the Jungbu Fire Station, a project aimed at providing the district with its own dedicated emergency response hub. The station is expected to be completed by 2028.
Addressing the status of the former Daejeon Sub-City Hall, Mayor Heo clarified that the project to preserve and utilize the building is currently in a stage of re-examination and adjustment rather than being halted. He expressed plans to transform the site into a cultural space for citizens, starting with the renovation of the courtyard to provide immediate public use.
Additionally, the Mayor announced financial support for local infrastructure, including 2 billion won in special adjustment grants for the construction of the Munchang Public Library and a senior welfare center in Jung-gu. He also addressed community suggestions regarding public transportation amenities and traffic safety improvements at Seongmo Junction.
