Daejeon Metropolitan City recruits 100 members for inaugural Youth Council
Daejeon Metropolitan City has announced a public recruitment drive for 100 members to form the first-ever Daejeon Youth Council. This initiative is part of the city's vision to become a ‘Youth Special City’ by establishing a bottom-up governance structure where young people lead the formulation, implementation, and evaluation of policies.
Selected members, aged 18 to 39, will be assigned to one of four specialized committees: career exploration, social entry, career formation, or family formation. Their responsibilities include identifying necessary policies, linking them with youth participatory budgeting, and monitoring policy outcomes. To ensure diversity and fairness, the city will use a stratified random sampling method considering gender and regional population ratios, with priority given to socially vulnerable groups such as persons with disabilities.
Applications are open online via the Daejeon Youth Portal from September 21 to October 11. Final members will be announced on October 22, with official activities scheduled to begin in November following an inauguration ceremony in late October.
