Daewoo E&C receives international certification for 22MW floating offshore wind platform

Daewoo E&C has announced that its 22MW floating offshore wind platform model has received Approval in Principle (AiP) from two major international classification societies: Norway’s DNV and France’s Bureau Veritas (BV).

This certification validates the structural stability and design technology of the ultra-large floating structure, which is designed to operate in extreme marine environments, such as depths of 150 meters in the East Sea. The model is noted for its economic efficiency, achieving an approximately 20% reduction in the Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) compared to existing models.

The development was part of a national project supported by the Korea Institute of Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning, involving a research group composed of various academic and industrial partners, including POSCO, Inha University, and the Korea Research Institute of Ships and Ocean Engineering (KRISO).
