Dafne Keen reportedly in talks to reprise X-23 role for Marvel X-Men reboot

Reports suggest Dafne Keen is in discussions to reprise her role as X-23 in the upcoming Marvel Studios X-Men reboot. Keen previously portrayed the character in 2017’s ‘Logan’ and recently appeared in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’. While Marvel Studios has not officially confirmed the casting, the move would transition the character from the former Fox universe into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

The focus on casting younger actors for the new X-Men team presents potential narrative challenges regarding the character Magneto. In comic book lore, Magneto’s motivations are deeply rooted in his experiences during the Holocaust. If the MCU casts a younger Magneto, the studio may face continuity issues regarding his age and historical origins. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has previously indicated that ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ may serve as a soft relaunch for the MCU, which could provide a mechanism to address such continuity shifts.
