Dafni-Ymittos nursery school incident involves food contamination

A serious error occurred at the 6th Nursery School in the Municipality of Dafni-Ymittos on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, when dish soap was mistakenly used in place of vinegar during meal preparation. The error was discovered after an alteration in the taste of the food served during lunch.

Several children and staff members who consumed the food were taken to the hospital for medical evaluation and precautionary treatment. Following contact with the Poison Control Center, the municipality reported that the health status of those affected is evolving normally, and most individuals have already been discharged from the hospital.

The Municipality of Dafni-Ymittos has taken immediate disciplinary and safety measures, including the suspension of the employee involved in the food preparation, the sealing of the school kitchen for inspection, and the initiation of a formal administrative investigation (EDE) to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident.
