Dagrofa recalls Royal Gala apples due to pest risk

Food corporation Dagrofa has issued a recall for Royal Gala apples originating from Italy. The recall affects apples sold in bulk at Meny, Spar, Let-Køb, and Min Købmand, as well as certain independent stores, between September 30 and October 7.

The recall is due to a risk of pest contamination, which renders the fruit unfit for consumption. While Dagrofa has not specified the type of pests involved or the cause of the situation, the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration notes that visible contamination can include signs such as gnaw marks, urine, excrement, hair, odors, webs, or larvae.

Consumers who have purchased these apples are advised to either discard them or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
