Dahbia olive oil begins early medicinal harvest in Algeria
In the Djelfa region of Algeria, the Dahbia olive oil brand has commenced an early harvest in the Benhar area near Aïn Ouessara. Owner Hakim Alileche stated that harvesting while the fruit is still intensely green allows for the production of oil with high levels of natural polyphenols and antioxidants.
This early method, referred to as the ‘October flower,’ targets a specific market, including medical professionals such as cardiologists and rheumatologists, who utilize the oil for its nutritional and therapeutic properties. Despite the early start, the producer noted ongoing challenges regarding labor availability.
