Daichi Kamada appointed Cheering Leader for High School Soccer Tournament

Japan national team midfielder Daichi Kamada, who currently plays for Crystal Palace, has been appointed as the ‘Cheering Leader’ for the 105th All Japan High School Soccer Tournament. The announcement was made by Nippon Television on September 22.

Kamada, a former student at Kyoto's Higashiyama High School, reflected on his journey from missing out on the national tournament during his first year to playing in two consecutive FIFA World Cups. He emphasized that his professional success was built on the mental strength and dedication developed during his high school years, specifically citing rigorous training habits like hill sprints and dribbling drills.

In a message to the participating student-athletes, Kamada encouraged them to cherish the happiness of playing with their teammates and to persevere through hardships. He stated, ‘What illuminates life is not special talent, but that moment of not giving up until the very end.’

The tournament is scheduled to begin on December 28 and conclude with the final on January 11, 2027.
