Daiga Mieriņa received highest Saeima salary in July

In July 2026, Saeima Speaker Daiga Mieriņa received the highest salary among Latvian parliamentarians, totaling 7,645.85 euros. Following her, Jānis Grasbergs received 5,636.76 euros, and Antoņina Ņenaševa received 5,381.24 euros.

Other high-earning deputies included Raivis Dzintars, Linda Matisone, and Artūrs Butāns, all of whom earned over 5,200 euros. Several other members received amounts exceeding 5,000 euros, while others received between 4,800 and 5,000 euros.

Parliamentary salaries are funded by the state budget and are regulated by the Law on Remuneration of Officials and Employees of State and Local Government Institutions. Salaries are reviewed annually based on average wage changes and inflation. While the base monthly salary for a deputy in 2026 is 4,330 euros before taxes, additional payments may be received for specific roles within the Saeima Presidium, factions, commissions, or subcommittees. Deputies do not receive bonuses for attending sessions or delegations, but they are eligible for expense compensations, such as rent and transport costs.
