Daihatsu, Toyota, and Suzuki announce new SUV models and updates
Major Japanese automakers have announced updates and new models for their SUV lineups.
Daihatsu has introduced improvements to its Taft compact crossover SUV, including a new 7-inch TFT color LCD screen and enhanced Smart Assist safety features capable of detecting cyclists and pedestrians at intersections. New special editions, the ‘Rugged Venture’ and ‘Active Mode’, have also been added to cater to outdoor enthusiasts.
Toyota has updated its Corolla Cross lineup, adding the ‘Z Adventure’ special edition to celebrate the Corolla’s 60th anniversary. The update also brings standard safety features, such as blind-spot monitoring and advanced parking assistance, to the mid-range Z trim, increasing its overall value proposition.
In Indonesia, Suzuki has unveiled an updated version of its seven-seater XL7 SUV at the GIIAS 2026 exhibition. The vehicle features a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with a mild-hybrid system and offers a high ground clearance of 200mm. The XL7 is intended for family use in emerging markets and is expected to be exported to various international regions.
