Daihatsu updates Tanto and Thor models with new safety features

Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. has announced partial improvements and new special editions for its Tanto and Thor vehicle models, effective August 31.

The Tanto lineup now includes the ‘Daily Tool’ special edition, which features black accents on the mirrors, door handles, and wheels. Additionally, new styling packages such as the ‘Daily Tool Style’ and ‘Urban Tough Style’ for the Tanto Fun Cross have been introduced. New color options, including Smooth Gray Mica Metallic, have also been added to the Tanto series.

The Thor compact car receives several updates, including new color variations such as Yellowish Black Crystal Mica and Grayish Olive Metallic. Enhancements to the Thor include the standardization of SRS side airbags and curtain shield airbags, the addition of a seat lifter for the X grade, and improved interior features like a TFT color multi-information display.

Safety technology improvements across both models focus on the ‘Smart Assist’ system. Updates include enhanced detection capabilities for crossing bicycles, vehicles in oncoming lanes during right turns, and pedestrians during left or right turns. The system’s pedestrian detection speed threshold has also been increased from 60 km/h to 80 km/h. Furthermore, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Lane Keep Control (LKC) functions have been refined to improve smoothness and reduce vehicle swaying.
