Daiki Hashioka to join Borussia Mönchengladbach on loan

Japanese international defender Daiki Hashioka is set to move from Czech club Slavia Prague to German Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach on a one‑year loan that includes an option to buy. He is scheduled to undergo a medical examination on 30 July (Thursday) before the transfer is finalised.

The signing comes as Borussia Mönchengladbach look to replace injured Ukrainian right‑back Yukhym Konoplya, who suffered a partial tear of the medial collateral ligament in his right knee during a pre‑season friendly against Rot‑Weiss Essen. Hashioka, who has earned 12 caps for Japan, previously spent the last season on loan at KAA Gent, making 17 appearances. The club already fields two other Japanese players – forward Shuto Machino and midfielder Zento Uno – meaning Hashioka would become the third Japanese member of the squad.
