Daikin recalls Amana air conditioners over fire risk

Daikin Comfort Technologies has issued a recall for approximately 4,759 Amana through-the-wall air conditioners and heat pumps in the United States and Canada due to fire risks. The recall, announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, involves five specific models with serial numbers beginning with PB.

The safety concern stems from a snubber circuit that can emit flames if a short occurs. Daikin has received two reports of such incidents, though no injuries have been recorded. These units, manufactured in India, were sold between April 2025 and June 2026 and are frequently installed in hotels, apartment buildings, and commercial spaces.

This follows a separate June recall of roughly 13,500 Amana window and through-the-wall units that posed a fire risk due to heating elements remaining energized during a ground fault. Daikin is offering full refunds for the affected products.
