Daily Egg Consumption Safe for Healthy Adults, says Vietnamese Nutrition Expert

Vietnamese nutrition specialist PGS. TS. BS Nguyễn Trọng Hưng of the National Institute of Nutrition explains that eating one egg per day is safe for healthy individuals without underlying disease. The egg provides high‑quality protein, lecithin that helps regulate blood cholesterol, and the yolk supplies vitamins A, D, B6, B12, folate, calcium, omega‑3 fatty acids and choline, which supports brain development.

Cooking method matters: boiled eggs retain most nutrients with low calories, while fried preparations or those combined with butter, cheese, or processed meats increase saturated fat and overall calorie content. Children are encouraged to eat about one egg daily for adequate choline intake. People with liver steatosis, metabolic disorders, or high cholesterol should limit intake to 2‑3 eggs per week and prefer boiled eggs, consulting a physician if needed.
