Daimler Buses announces technical upgrades for coach portfolio
Daimler Buses is implementing a comprehensive technical upgrade to its coach portfolio, scheduled to begin in 2027. The updates will apply to the Mercedes-Benz Tourismo and Travego series, as well as the Setra ComfortClass, TopClass, and S 531 DT double-decker models. The Travego series is intended exclusively for the Turkish market.
Key improvements include a new generation of engines and transmissions designed to reduce fuel consumption by up to six percent, depending on the specific engine variant and vehicle configuration. The OM 471 engine variant is expected to achieve up to six percent savings, while the OM 470 may see up to four percent.
The update introduces a new electronic architecture that enables advanced driver assistance systems, remote over-the-air software updates, and enhanced vehicle connectivity. Drivers will also benefit from the Multimedia Cockpit Interactive, which features bus-specific navigation and intuitive controls. Additionally, the Setra S 531 DT will receive chassis and comfort enhancements to improve maneuverability and the passenger experience.
