Daimler Buses to open electric bus charging hub in Hamburg

Daimler Buses has announced plans to open its third public electric bus charging site at the Hamburg Central Bus Station (ZOB) in 2027. This follows previous infrastructure projects in Cologne and Munich.

Daimler Buses Solutions, a subsidiary of Daimler Buses, will build and operate the site under a lease agreement with ZOB Hamburg. The facility is designed to accommodate over 80,000 bus movements annually. Initial plans include four fast chargers capable of up to 600kW, with the capacity to expand to eight charging points.

The charging infrastructure will be brand-independent, allowing electric buses from any manufacturer to use the service. All electricity provided will be sourced from renewable energy. The project aims to support the electrification of intercity and coach travel, specifically facilitating the use of the Mercedes-Benz eIntouro, the company’s first battery-electric intercity bus.
