Daimler Truck earns 600 million euros from Archion stake sale
Daimler Truck has achieved a strategic milestone by reducing its stake in the truck manufacturer Archion to 25 percent. The sale of these shares generated approximately 600 million euros in capital. Archion serves as a holding company for Mitsubishi Fuso, a Daimler Truck subsidiary, and Hino, a Toyota subsidiary.
Separately, global sales of medium- and heavy-duty electric trucks and buses nearly doubled in 2025. According to a study by the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT), worldwide sales rose by 86 percent, reaching roughly 500,000 vehicles. China remains the primary driver of this growth, accounting for nearly 90 percent of global sales, aided by falling battery costs and government incentives.
Other regions, including the European Union, India, Brazil, and the United Kingdom, reported double-digit growth, largely driven by the expansion of electric bus fleets. In the EU, approximately 9,800 electric vehicles were sold, while India recorded about 5,000. Despite this growth, Daimler Truck CEO Karin Rådström noted that challenges remain for electric mobility in the heavy truck segment.
