Daimler Truck expands Freightliner Cascadia deployment and safety technology use

Heidelberg Materials has added five Freightliner Cascadia day cab models to its Australian fleet. The selected trucks feature 16-litre Detroit DD16 engines producing 600hp and 12-speed DT12 Automated Manual Transmissions. The vehicles are noted for their low tare weight, which optimizes payload for truck and dog operations.

Daimler Truck’s technology, including the Detroit Assurance 5.0 safety package, provides features such as Advanced Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Departure Warning. In Mexico, Daimler Truck reported that these integrated security solutions and the Enlace Freightliner platform have helped fleets reduce insurance premiums by approximately 12% and decrease vehicle theft due to the difficulty of sabotaging the integrated systems. The technology utilizes artificial intelligence to monitor driver fatigue, cell phone usage, and distracted driving behaviors.
