Daimler Truck North America to close Portland plant and build new US facility

Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) has announced the closure of its manufacturing facility in Portland, Oregon, as part of an industrial reorganization. The plant is expected to cease industrial operations by the end of 2026, a move that will affect approximately 375 employees. While production will be transferred to other company units located in the Carolinas, the Portland location will continue to serve as the administrative headquarters for DTNA.

In a related strategic move, DTNA announced plans to build a new, state-of-the-art greenfield manufacturing facility in the United States. This new plant is intended to be the company’s largest truck manufacturing facility in the country, utilizing advanced, flexible technologies to produce both vocational and on-highway commercial vehicles. Construction on the new site is expected to begin by the end of 2026, with operations targeted to commence in 2029. The company is currently evaluating multiple sites in the southeastern United States for this project.
