Dairy industry leaders discuss food security at Forum Milch NRW

At the 19th Forum Milch NRW held in Schwerte, industry participants discussed strengthening the resilience of the dairy sector to ensure food security during crises. Hans Stöcker of the Landesvereinigung der Milchwirtschaft Nordrhein-Westfalen (LV Milch NRW) emphasized the importance of regional structures and family-run farms in maintaining supply chains when global networks are disrupted.

Dr. Martin Berges, State Secretary for the Ministry of Agriculture and Consumer Protection of North Rhine-Westphalia, stated that the state government aims to support farms in building crisis-proof structures. Additionally, Ralph Thiele of EuroDefense Deutschland warned that food supplies face hybrid threats, including cyberattacks, sabotage, and disinformation, which could jeopardize the dairy industry without direct military conflict.
