Dairy Queen announces Hong Kong expansion with four new stores
American fast-food chain Dairy Queen is returning to Hong Kong with an ambitious expansion plan. The company intends to open four outlets in the fourth quarter of this year, strategically covering Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, the New Territories, and the outlying islands.
The flagship store is scheduled to launch at the One Causeway Bay shopping centre in November. This will be followed by a location at The ANGLE mall in Kwun Tong, which is already under hoarding. The brand has set a long-term goal to establish 60 locations across the city by 2034.
The new stores will feature a concept tailored for the local market, including five product lines such as milkshakes, parfaits, and ice cream cakes, alongside its signature Blizzard soft-serve dessert. Analysts suggest the expansion comes at a time when falling retail rents and shop values have lowered entry costs for foreign brands, even as many legacy merchants face closures.
