Dajabón producers denounce livestock theft and demand security

Livestock producers in the Los Arroyos community of Dajabón are denouncing a surge in animal thefts and demanding increased security. The recent theft of a mare and a horse has sparked indignation among local farmers, who claim to feel unprotected despite the presence of military forces in the border region.

Producer Edy Cueto reported that the animals were stolen between Friday night and Saturday morning. He noted that the theft occurred less than 20 meters from where an Army patrol was reportedly stationed, leading him to demand explanations from military commanders regarding the effectiveness of their service.

Local producers expressed frustration that they are forced to conduct their own overnight surveillance to protect their livelihoods. Furthermore, Cueto stated that when producers attempt to monitor their properties, they have occasionally faced questioning from military personnel.
