DaJean Golmond named MEAC Rookie of the Week for second straight week

Norfolk State freshman quarterback DaJean Golmond has been named the MEAC Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week. In his second career start, Golmond threw for 371 yards and three touchdowns during a 33-31 loss to Robert Morris.

Golmond’s performance included several program milestones, including the seventh-most passing yards in a single game for Norfolk State. He also accounted for a fourth touchdown by catching a 6-yard pass on a trick play. Despite the loss, Golmond led a comeback attempt that saw the Spartans erase a 27-10 third-quarter deficit to take a 31-27 lead late in the game.

Following the performance, Norfolk State head coach Michael Vick announced that Golmond will start again this week. Vick noted that the freshman is “not operating like a freshman” as the team prepares for MEAC play.
