Dak Lak court sentences three men for intentional injury

The People's Court of Area 12 in Dak Lak province has sentenced three defendants to prison for the intentional injury of Vo Mong Dat. The defendants, identified as Tran Van Hoi, Phan Thanh Tung, and Ho Van Vien, received prison terms of 4 years, 3 years and 6 months, and 3 years, respectively.

The incident occurred on October 26, 2023, in My Hoa, Hoa Hiep ward. According to court records, the assault began after Tran Van Hoi attempted to invite the victim to drink, which the victim declined. The defendants then physically attacked the victim, including throwing him onto a cement floor and using hands and feet to strike him repeatedly.

Medical assessments determined the victim suffered a 23% body injury rate, including psychological trauma and movement disorders. The court ordered the three defendants to jointly pay 315 million VND in compensation to the victim for medical expenses, treatment, and mental distress. While the defendants initially disputed the cause of the victim's health decline, they eventually admitted their actions contributed to the injuries.
