Dak Lak police warn of online grooming and child exploitation
Police in Dak Lak province, Vietnam, have issued a warning regarding online grooming and exploitation of minors. The alert follows an incident in Son Thanh commune where a minor reported being lured by an acquaintance met through social media.
According to authorities, the suspect used social media to build trust through gifts or attention before luring the victim to secluded locations to commit abuse. The perpetrator then allegedly used recorded images and videos to threaten and control the minor. The case has been transferred to the Dak Lak Provincial Police Investigation Agency for further processing.
Law enforcement officials noted that predators often use friendly tactics, such as offering money or emotional support, to gain access to children. They cautioned parents that managing screen time is insufficient and urged families to actively monitor their children's online relationships to prevent exploitation.
