Dak Lak Police warn of used motorcycle scams on social media
The Dak Lak Provincial Police have issued a warning regarding the risks of buying and selling used motorcycles through social media groups and online forums. Criminals are reportedly exploiting the desire for low prices and fast transactions to market vehicles with unverified origins or fraudulent documentation.
To deceive buyers, suspects may use fake vehicle registration certificates or altered documents to make illegal vehicles appear legitimate. The police advise citizens to carefully verify a vehicle's origin by cross-referencing the actual frame and engine numbers with the information provided on the registration papers.
Authorities urge the public to avoid transactions based solely on online images, videos, or seller recommendations. Specific red flags include prices that are unusually low compared to market value, sellers who avoid providing origin details, or documents showing signs of erasure and modification. All transfers of ownership should be conducted strictly according to legal procedures.
