Dak Lak, Vietnam police investigate masked man assault on 10‑year‑old girl

On 30 July 2026 a man with his face completely covered, wearing a blue shirt, shorts, a hat and a black basket, approached a 10‑year‑old girl sitting outside her home in Ea Kao commune, Dak Lak province, Vietnam. He grabbed the child's hand, hugged her from behind and said, “Come with me.” The girl screamed for help and ran back into the house; the man fled the scene.

CCTV footage of the incident was posted online, prompting local authorities to launch an investigation. Police have been working with the child's family to create a facial sketch, and are coordinating with neighbouring districts to locate the suspect. The cause of the man's actions remains unclear; officials have not ruled out kidnapping, sexual assault, or other malicious intent. The police urged residents to remain vigilant and to supervise children, especially those who are alone outside their homes.
