Dakar: Human remains discovered behind the Palais de la République
Human remains were discovered on Monday morning, September 28, along the Corniche Est in Dakar, located behind the Palais de la République near the rocks by the Senegalese Auto-Moto Federation.
Investigators from the Plateau district police station arrived at the scene around 10:00 AM after being alerted to the discovery. The remains were in an advanced state of decomposition, with all soft tissue having disappeared. The individual was found lying face down, wearing red trousers and a matching red sock.
While the identity and cause of death remain unconfirmed, a witness from the Senegalese Auto-Moto Federation suggested the deceased might have been a man with mental health issues who was known to frequent the area. The witness noted that a strong, foul odor had been emanating from the location for several weeks. Authorities have requested a formal assessment from the director of the Dakar Principal Hospital, and an investigation is underway to identify the victim and determine the circumstances of the death.
