Dakota and Elle Fanning discuss working together on ‘The Nightingale’

Sisters Dakota and Elle Fanning have discussed the challenges of working together on the upcoming historical dramaThe Nightingale’, an adaptation of Kristin Hannah’s war novel. During an appearance on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’, Dakota Fanning admitted that both sisters felt a sense of “secret panic” regarding their professional collaboration.

Dakota noted that they were concerned about whether they could maintain professionalism or if their close relationship would lead to distractions on set. To manage their dynamic, Elle requested that Dakota refrain from acting like an older sister and instead treat her as a fellow actor. Despite these efforts, Dakota recounted a moment of sibling bickering during a scene in a hot room that caused the film crew to laugh.

In addition to their film collaboration, both sisters have recently received Emmy nominations. Dakota earned two nominations for her work in ‘All Her Fault’ and as a producer on ‘Margo’s Got Money Troubles’, while Elle also received two nominations for her acting and producing work. ‘The Nightingale’ is scheduled for release on March 19, 2027.
