Dakshina Kannada police book nine for alleged moral policing and assault
Police in the Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka have registered a case against nine individuals following an alleged moral policing attack and assault on August 12. The incident occurred in the Konalu Kolpe area of Kadaba taluk.
According to the complaint filed by an 18-year-old woman, the group intercepted her and her family members as they were returning home from work. The victim alleged that the accused used obscene language, prevented them from proceeding, and physically assaulted several individuals, including the woman, her mother, and her sister. One male bystander who attempted to intervene was also reportedly assaulted.
The Uppinangady police have booked the nine suspects under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including provisions for unlawful assembly, rioting, criminal intimidation, and voluntarily causing hurt. An investigation into the circumstances of the assault is currently underway.
