Daktronics reports fiscal 2027 first-quarter growth and record EPS

Daktronics reported its fiscal 2027 first-quarter financial results, highlighted by a 21.2% increase in earnings per share (EPS) to $0.40, marking its highest quarterly EPS in three years. Net sales grew 7.1% year-over-year, while operating income rose 7.2% to $24.9 million. Gross margin expanded by 80 basis points to 30.5%.

The company maintained a product backlog exceeding $300 million for the sixth consecutive quarter, entering the second quarter with $311 million. While first-quarter bookings saw a year-over-year decline, management attributed this to timing and noted that several substantial projects are expected to receive purchase orders in the second quarter, with revenue generation primarily beginning in the third quarter.

In the live events sector, Daktronics is currently installing projects for several universities, including the University of Illinois, Ohio State, Penn State, and North Carolina.
