NFL brings Cowboys vs. Ravens to Rio de Janeiro's Maracanã Stadium
The NFL is set to host a regular season game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Baltimore Ravens at Rio de Janeiro’s Maracanã Stadium on Sunday, September 27, 2026. This event marks the first time the city has hosted a regular season NFL game.
To prepare for the matchup, Maracanã management has utilized a GrassMaster Stitch Machine to apply synthetic fibers to the natural grass, providing structural reinforcement and increased safety for the athletes following recent criticism of the pitch conditions. The stadium has also undergone adaptations including the installation of NFL-specific goalposts and yard markings.
The NFL has demonstrated a long-term commitment to the Brazilian market by establishing a local office in the country. Parallel to the game, the "The Huddle Abroad Rio" program will feature flag football clinics and STEM education initiatives in partnership with the U.S. Embassy and Consulate. The halftime show is scheduled to include musical performances by Pedro Sampaio and Ricky Martin.
On the roster front, Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers remains uncertain for the game due to a hamstring injury. The matchup features two teams with 1-1 records entering Week 3 of the season.
