Dallas Cowboys manage roster updates with Tyler Smith and Joey Porter Jr

The Dallas Cowboys are managing key roster developments as they head into Week 5. Pro Bowl guard Tyler Smith has been activated from the 21-day practice window following surgery for a thumb injury. While his availability for the upcoming game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers remains undecided, his return could provide much-needed stability to the interior offensive line.

On the defensive side, cornerback Joey Porter Jr. is acclimating to the team following a trade from the Pittsburgh Steelers. Reports indicate that the trade occurred after Porter rejected a contract extension from Pittsburgh that reportedly reached $28 million per year, primarily due to disagreements over long-term guarantees. Porter, who played 24 snaps in his debut against the Houston Texans, has expressed readiness to take on a larger role in the Cowboys' secondary.

Offensively, quarterback Dak Prescott remains committed to the team's ‘Greatest Offense There Is’ (GOTI) goal despite a 1-2 start to the season. The offense currently ranks third in points per game, and Prescott maintains that the team has not yet reached its full potential.
