Dallas Cowboys showcase new talent and depth during OTAs

The Dallas Cowboys began the second week of their voluntary offseason workouts (OTAs) on June 8, continuing through June 11. These sessions are the final voluntary drills before mandatory training camps start on June 16, offering coaches a chance to evaluate players despite the low‑intensity environment.

Veteran safety P.J. Locke, on a one‑year contract, has been mentoring rookie Caleb Downs, sharing experience from his time on championship‑caliber defenses. Meanwhile, rookie third‑round linebacker Jaishawn Barham is working to earn a role in the inside‑linebacker group, and veteran wide receiver Marquez Valdes‑Scantling has been receiving first‑team reps despite competition at receiver. Running back Jaydon Blue impressed with his pass‑catching ability, and cornerback Shavon Revel Jr. returned to practice after recovering from a knee brace, earning praise from defensive coordinator Christian Parker.

Overall, the OTAs highlighted the Cowboys' focus on bolstering defensive depth and evaluating several players who could compete for roster spots ahead of the regular season.
