Dallas Cowboys start 20th Oxnard training camp as coach Brian Schottenheimer addresses staffing rumors

The Dallas Cowboys will hold their 20th annual training camp in Oxnard, California, from July 29 to August 18. The team’s schedule includes an opening ceremony, fan night, a cheerleaders dance clinic, a free NFL FLAG camp for children, and a Heroes Appreciation Day honoring military, first‑responders and healthcare workers. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones praised the partnership with the Oxnard community, noting the event’s role in connecting fans with the team.

Ahead of the camp, head coach Brian Schottenheimer discussed a previous claim that he had a standing agreement to remain on the Cowboys staff after the firing of former coach Mike McCarthy, even if not as head coach. Insider Ed Werder refuted the assertion, pointing to earlier statements by Schottenheimer that he had planned to leave. The coach was ultimately hired for his second season, and the camp will be his first full preseason with the team.
