Dallas Cowboys waive running back Emari Demercado
The Dallas Cowboys have waived running back Emari Demercado for the second time this month. The move, which also included the release of backup tight end D. J. Rogers, was made to create roster spots for players returning from injured reserve.
Demercado, a former TCU standout who previously played three seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, appeared in only two regular-season games for Dallas, recording 15 rushing yards on five attempts. He had recently been surpassed on the depth chart by Tyler Goodson.
The roster vacancies are expected to accommodate the return of offensive lineman Tyler Smith and potentially defensive players such as outside linebacker Marist Liufau and safety PJ Locke, both of whom have recently had their practice windows opened following injuries.
