Dallas fire produces large smoke plume over city skyline
A large fire in southwestern Dallas produced a massive plume of dark smoke visible across the skyline and surrounding areas, including Grand Prairie, Arlington, and Duncanville, on Sunday evening, August 16, 2026.
Dallas Fire-Rescue reported that crews initially responded to reports of vegetation burning. The fire subsequently spread to at least one structure. A three-alarm response was initiated, involving at least seven engines and three trucks. The incident led to road closures on Barstow Boulevard to facilitate emergency operations.
