The Dallas-Fort Worth area is experiencing extreme late-summer heat and a historic drought. Temperatures at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport are expected to reach 101 degrees, marking the 45th day of triple-digit heat this year, which ranks ninth on record for the region.

The area is also facing a significant dry spell, with 55 consecutive days without measurable rain at the airport, tying for the fifth-longest dry stretch in recorded history. Heat advisories remain in effect due to high temperatures and elevated humidity.

Some relief may arrive with a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms. Forecasts indicate a 55 percent chance of rain in Dallas, which could bring heavy downpours and lightning, potentially lowering temperatures to the mid-to-upper 90s.
