Dallas ISD Officer Shot in Sam's Club Parking Lot

A 39‑year‑old Dallas Independent School District police officer, Justin Jones, was shot while assisting a person in distress at a Sam's Club parking lot near Interstate 635 and Midway Road in Dallas, Texas. The incident occurred around 11 a.m. on Thursday. Jones was hit in the leg, taken to Parkland Hospital and underwent surgery; his condition was reported as critical.

Police arrested the suspect at the scene, and Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux confirmed custody during a news conference. Walmart, the parent company of Sam's Club, said it is cooperating with investigators.

The shooting prompted a large police response, with multiple agencies deploying vehicles and establishing a crime‑scene perimeter around the area.
