Dallas Mavericks players and outlook face scrutiny during preseason

Zaccharie Risacher is showing signs of adjustment with the Dallas Mavericks following his acquisition from the Hawks. During a preseason victory against Houston, the former No. 1 overall pick scored 16 points on 7-of-13 shooting, with 14 points coming in the second half.

Head coach Dusty May noted that Risacher appears to be settling in and learning to play alongside his teammates. The team is looking for Risacher to provide defensive versatility, rebounding, and floor spacing to complement stars like Cooper Flagg and Kyrie Irving.

Despite roster improvements and new leadership under coach Dusty May and president Masai Ujiri, some analysts remain cautious about the team's immediate outlook. Former NBA executive John Hollinger predicts the Mavericks may finish 11th in the Western Conference with a 36-36 record, suggesting the team might be a year away from a winning record and playoff contention.
