Dallas Stars aim to sign Jason Robertson to long-term extension
Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill has confirmed the team’s intention to sign forward Jason Robertson to a long-term contract extension. Following a one-year, $12 million deal signed over the summer to avoid arbitration, the team plans to begin formal negotiations in December, with the ability to sign a long-term agreement starting January 1.
Robertson is considered a central part of the Dallas franchise. While the player has previously declined long-term offers elsewhere, including reported interest from the Seattle Kraken, Nill expressed optimism that Robertson’s goal is to finish his career in Dallas.
Speculation regarding Robertson’s future has also linked him to the Montreal Canadiens. Reports suggest the player may consider Montreal as a potential destination in the next phase of his career, noting the team’s projected cap space for the 2027–2028 season.
