Dallas Stars sign Sam Steel to $14.8 million extension
The Dallas Stars have signed forward Sam Steel to a four-year contract extension worth $14.8 million. The deal, announced by General Manager Jim Nill, carries an average annual value (AAV) of $3.7 million and will take effect starting with the 2027-2028 season.
Steel, 28, has become a versatile asset for the franchise since joining via free agency in 2023. He is noted for his defensive reliability, particularly on the penalty kill, where he has accumulated over 450 minutes—the most among Dallas forwards during his tenure.
Coming off a career-high season with 12 goals and 33 points, the Canadian center has recorded 175 total points in 491 career NHL regular-season games.
