Damang Gold Mine reports high extraction volumes and 15-year viability
The Damang Gold Mine has reported extracting approximately 12.1 million tonnes of material between April and September 2026. According to Mining Manager Frank Dankyi Agyei, freshly mined material now accounts for 60 per cent of the processing plant’s feed, countering claims that the operation is merely processing old stockpiles.
An independent mechanical engineer, Obed Asamoah, stated that the mine could remain productive for at least another 15 years if it secures necessary capital investment. This assessment follows a change in ownership to Engineers and Planners.
As part of regional development, the company has proposed an $80 million airport project at the mine site to improve accessibility between Damang and Accra. The project is expected to consist of two phases, including land preparation for a two-kilometre runway and the construction of supporting infrastructure.
