Damang Gold Mine recruits 400 locals following ownership transition

Four months after transitioning to indigenous Ghanaian ownership on April 18, 2026, Damang Gold Mine Limited (DGML) has begun implementing community commitments regarding employment and infrastructure.

Under the leadership of CEO Ibrahim Mahama, the mine has initiated a recruitment process involving nearly 400 local residents from catchment communities. Currently, 180 individuals are employed, with 135 candidates undergoing induction or medical examinations and 85 awaiting interview results. Roles include maintenance, security, heavy-duty driving, and general labor. The company has an agreement to source 60% of its workforce from local communities.

Nana Kwabena Amponsah IV, Chief of the Bosomtwi Divisional Council, expressed cautious optimism regarding these developments. Local leaders noted that the transition to Ghanaian ownership, operated by Engineers and Planners (E&P), provides a pathway for residents to acquire professional skills and improve long-term livelihoods.
