Damariscotta police investigate man in Bigfoot costume

A man wearing a “very convincing” Bigfoot costume triggered a wave of 911 calls in Damariscotta, Maine, on Tuesday. The sightings, which included a large figure covered in fur and wearing a top hat, caused alarm among residents, particularly during the morning school drop-off period.

Officer William Smith located the individual “sitting peacefully” on Main Street. After an investigation, the Damariscotta Police Department concluded that “Bigfoot is not real.” The department issued a tongue-in-cheek statement noting that while the news might be disappointing to some, no criminal activity had occurred. Consequently, the man was not arrested.
