Damascus University hosts workshop on anti-money laundering

The Faculty of Economics at Damascus University, in collaboration with Eltizam Consulting, organized a specialized workshop focused on combating money laundering and terrorism financing. The initiative aims to increase student awareness regarding the risks of these practices and the procedures required to mitigate them.

Ali Kanaan, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, stated that the workshop is part of an effort to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, specifically regarding local and international legislation. He noted that curbing these activities is essential for protecting legitimate investments and supporting the national economy.

Economic expert Ammar Marouf and Eltizam Consulting Executive Director Abdo Makki Youssef also participated, emphasizing the importance of preparing students for the financial labor market and promoting compliance with international standards to protect the Syrian banking and financial sectors.
