Dame Gruev commemorated in Sofia

An event was held at the Macedonian Cultural Information Center (KIC) in Sofia to mark the 155th anniversary of the birth and the 120th anniversary of the death of Dame Gruev, a prominent Macedonian revolutionary.

Professor Dr. Mihailo Marković delivered a speech during the commemoration, titled ‘In the Light of Freedom – On the Historical Significance of Dame Gruev’. The event served to reflect on Gruev’s life and his role as one of the primary organizers of the Macedonian revolutionary movement.

Gruev is recognized as a co-founder of the Macedonian Revolutionary Organization in Thessaloniki in 1893. His work focused on building organizational networks, spreading revolutionary ideas, and promoting national awakening through education and organized struggle for freedom and independence.
